The Den is a productive and attractive mixed commercial woodland. It comprises a diverse range of species and ages, Sitka spruce being the dominant crop. Some 13.81 hectares were felled and re-planted in 2018, this young crop is growing at an impressive yield and is well stocked. 35.12 hectares were planted in 2021 and 54.64 hectares have been felled and await restocking. There is an approved grant of £550/hectare to support the cost of restocking, this will be transferred to an incoming purchaser. The Fordoun Burn is a charming feature which runs through the northern part the woodland and adds considerable amenity value.
Lot 2 – Brownhill – 33.81 Hectares / 83.54 Acres
Brownhill is a compact and easily managed conifer woodland which is performing well. Sitka spruce is the main crop and constitutes 60% of the productive area. The remaining crops are Scots pine, Japanese larch and Norway spruce which were planted in 1965.
