Lot 1 – Keith’s Muir -19.77 Hectares / 48.85 Acres – Offers Over £220,000

This most attractive lot consists of 3 scenic woodland parcels. Two of the parcels are situated just south of Drumoak with close proximity to the iconic River Dee. Circa 2.5 hectares of the woodlands were planted with commercial conifers, mostly Sitka spruce which is maturing well and could be harvested in approximately 10 years. The remaining woodlands constitute delightful mixed broadleaves which are abundant with biodiversity and wildlife. Lot 2 – Coldstream Plantation – 55.94 Hectares / 138.23 Acres – Offers Over £350,000

Formally a productive Scots pine plantation with some Norway spruce and Hybrid larch. The crops were prematurely clear felled following Storm Arwin under Felling Licence reference number FPA-10545. The restocking will be the responsibility of the purchaser and comprise 40.30 hectares Scots pine, 9.67 hectares Norway spruce, 5.32 hectares Hybrid larch and 0.75
hectares open ground. The soils are a mixture of podzols and gleys, typical of forestry soils in the area, capable of producing high quality timber. The next rotation should benefit from improved ground conditions.

Lot 3 – Quartains Woods – 25.79 Hectares / 63.73 Acres – Over £125,000

Three compact blocks of mid-rotation pine woodlands, complimented by attractive broadleaves adding considerable amenity and biodiversity. Surrounded by productive farmland, the woods are situated on level, fertile ground. The Gormack Burn and other watercourses lie close and adjacent to the woodlands. The westerly block, known as Murphiehowe Wood, is ready to harvest under an approved Felling Licence, ref number: FPA-8561. The next rotation is to be planted with predominantly Sitka spruce which will be faster growing and high yielding.

Lot 4 – Castle Woods – 39.58 Hectares / 97.90 Acres – £300,000

A collection of diverse, mixed woodlands. The trees comprise a mixture of species and age class, mainly consisting of land awaiting restocking, through to mature specimen broadleaves.
There are areas of mid rotation pine, a shelter belt and some areas of younger attractive broadleaves. The main block used to form part of the policies of Drum Castle dating from the 1700s, currently owned by The National Trust for Scotland and includes the original east drive. There is an attractive pond in the northern section, known as Robbie Rossie’s Loch.

Lot 5 – Old Manse Woods – 20.88 Ha  /  51.59 Ac – Over £125,000

Moss-side Plantation comprises a highly attractive maturing pine woodland located to the south-east of Drumoak. Old Manse Wood to the south, is a mixture of young broadleaves and some conifers. The easterly block, known as Mossend Wood has been harvested under Felling Licence reference number FPA – 8560. The area is to be restocked with mostly Sitka spruce, this will be the responsibility of the purchaser.
