More than 2,500 hectares of forestry – and land suitable for planting – worth more than £34 million is coming to the market in GOLDCREST Land & Forestry’s Autumn Launch, adding to a bumper year for the forestry industry with UK-wide figures expected to top £300m.

A small island in the Summer Isles archipelago, Càrn Deas, is connected by a shingle spit to Càrn Iar and Càrn Beag, also uninhabited. The island benefits from a breath-taking landscape and has staggering views of the neighbouring islands and the Outer Hebrides to the west.

A forest extending to almost 800 hectares in the Scottish Borders has come to the market for offers over £18 million. Priesthaugh Forest, at Teviothead near Hawick, is a productive commercial conifer forest with strong yield classes and extensive mature timber ready for harvesting.

Up until a few years ago, the demand and supply cycle for upland livestock units was low and while some followed parents and grandparents into farming, many of the next generation sought careers elsewhere. As a result, existing farmers found it hard to retire. Three or four years on, the farming challenges may still exist but the forester is urgently seeking land on which to plant trees.

The Perthshire settlement – from which all inhabitants left around 200 years ago – came up for sale, global interest focused on Old Lawers Village, prompting new publishing both online and in print.

ALMOST 750 hectares of prime commercial forestry in the Scottish Borders has come to the market for offers over £14 million. Goldcrest Land & Forestry Group has launched the sale of the Ramsaygrain East Forests, which extend to 745 hectares and are available as a whole or in three lots.
